Eighth Avenue Animal Hospital – New Westminster, BC

Eighth Avenue Animal Hospital is a newly opening small animal veterinary hospital in Current Westminster, BC, and we are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and versatile Veterinary Assistant / Client Care Representative (Receptionist) to join our growing team.

We are a modern, fast-paced hospital committed to high-quality veterinary medicine, compassionate patient care, excellent client service, and teamwork. We are open 7 days a week with rotating shifts.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a combination of hands-on animal care, veterinary support, and client-facing responsibilities.

Client Care / Reception Responsibilities

- Welcome clients and provide friendly, professional customer service
- Answer phone calls, emails, and client inquiries
- Schedule appointments and assist with daily appointment flow
- Process payments, invoices, and treatment estimates
- Maintain accurate patient records and client information
- Assist with general administrative and front-desk duties
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations and procedures
- Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
- Prepare examination rooms, surgical packs, and medical equipment




- Assist with patient monitoring and basic nursing care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment, kennel, and surgical areas
- Help ensure the hospital operates smoothly and efficiently

Requirements
- Genuine interest in animal care and veterinary medicine
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy environment
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats
- Basic computer and administrative skills
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, shelter, or medical office is an asset but not required

Compensation & Employment
- $19–$22/hour, depending on experience
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Rotating shifts, including weekends
