Uyyarvu is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and creating accessible, culturally responsive mental health education and resources. Position: Volunteer Research Assistant
Location: Remote, with some in-person tasks
Job Type: Volunteer / Unpaid
Hours: Flexible; approximately 3–5 hours per week

About the Role
Uyyarvu is looking for a creative and passionate Volunteer Content Creator to help develop engaging, educational, and relatable mental health content for our social media and digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys psychology, social media, and creating content that can make mental health information easier to understand and connect with. You will collaborate with our research, communications, and creative teams to develop content that aligns with Uyyarvu’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging and educational content related to mental health and wellness
- Develop content ideas for Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms
- Create social media posts, carousels, reels, videos, captions, and other digital content
- Translate mental health research and information into accessible, audience-friendly content
- Collaborate with the Research and Content team to ensure information is accurate and evidence-informed
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for initiatives
- Assist with developing content calendars and planning upcoming social media content
- Stay informed about relevant mental health topics, awareness days, and emerging conversations
- Ensure content is inclusive, respectful, culturally responsive, and aligned with Uyyarvu’s mission
- Collaborate with other volunteers and team leads on events and educational initiatives
Qualifications
- Strong interest in mental health, psychology, social media, communications, content creation, or related areas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative mindset with an ability to develop engaging content ideas
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Strong understanding of social media trends and audience engagement
- Ability to communicate complex topics in transparent, accessible, and respectful language
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, or similar tools is an asset
- Previous content creation, social media, communications, or nonprofit experience is an asset
- Interest in reducing mental health stigma and increasing mental health literacy
