Line Cook

Sumu Restaurant
Wage: $22–$24 per hour

Sumu Restaurant is a current Japanese-French fusion restaurant bringing together Japanese ingredients and culinary traditions with classic and modern French techniques.

We are currently looking for experienced and passionate Line Cooks to join our opening kitchen team. We are seeking cooks who care about technique, consistency, organization, and the quality of every plate leaving the kitchen.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate assigned kitchen stations for service

Prepare and execute dishes according to recipes, plating standards, and chef specifications

Maintain consistency in cooking, seasoning, portioning, and presentation

Complete daily mise en place and ensure the station is fully prepared before service

Communicate effectively with chefs and other kitchen team members during service

Maintain a clean, organized, and productive workstation

Properly handle, label, store, and rotate ingredients

Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times

Assist with receiving, prep, cleaning, and closing duties as required

Minimize waste and maintain proper product handling

Support other stations and team members when necessary

Qualifications





Previous skilled kitchen experience is required

Strong knife skills and solid understanding of fundamental cooking techniques

Ability to work efficiently and remain organized during busy service

Strong attention to detail and consistency

Ability to follow recipes, plating guides, and chef direction accurately

Reliable, punctual, qualified, and team-oriented

Willingness to learn and continuously improve

Experience with Japanese or French cuisine is an asset

Fine dining or high-volume restaurant experience is an asset
