Job Description

• Provides nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician orders, resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of a Registered Practical Nurse
• Utilizes sound nursing practice principles
• Ensures the delivery of excellent nursing and personal care on the assigned home area(s)
• Develops and sustains a plan of care to meet residents assessed need
• Responsible for safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys in accordance with professional standards and policies
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered
• Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care
• Follows all corporate policies and procedures contributes to the development of site specific nursing policies as indicated
• Seeks direction from the RN when resident need exceeds experience or scope of practice.

Wage

Starting wage is $27.23 as per our CUPE Collective Agreement.

Required Skills

• Must possess a valid certification as a Registered Practical Nurse through a recognized college or educational institution
• Must possess a valid certification in CPR/current Heart-Save Level
• Demonstrated experience in a long-term care setting, is preferable
• Proficient in interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient with computer programs, including Word, Excel, and specialized medical software
• Qualified working knowledge of nursing care equipment
