CMHAKelowna & District is hiring a part-time Youth Supportive Housing Worker inthe Bright Mindz Program offering 16 hours per week. The schedule for thisposition is Saturday and Sunday, 3:30pm – 11:30pm.WHOIS A YOUTH SUPPORTIVE HOUSING WORKER?The Youth Supportive HousingWorker (YSHW) in the Bright Mindz Program is dedicated to supporting youngindividuals who are housed in a specialized youth floor at a market housingbuilding. This position focuses on assisting program participants who haveexperienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, promoting housingstability and enhancing quality of life. The YSHW collaborates with amultidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized support plansencompassing health referrals, social connections, life skills, and educationaland employment support.WHATDOES A YOUTH SUPPORTIVE HOUSING WORKER DO?Fosterand maintain cooperative relationships with housing, health, and socialservice professionals to address clients' needs effectivelyCreateand implement individualized support plans aimed at achieving housing stabilityfor each program participantProvideslife skills training such as cooking, housekeeping and personal self-managementskillsConnectclients to available income supports as required and advocate on their behalfwith relevant agenciesLiaisewith community agencies and businesses to ensure program needs are met andfacilitate the flow of information and resourcesProvideaccurate information and appropriate referrals to clients regarding communityresourcesEmployan ethical, efficient, and therapeutic approach to crisis intervention in atimely mannerEnsurethe safety of clients in potentially dangerous situations, followingestablished protocolsMaintainaccurate case files, notes,



and daily statistics regarding client interactionsand program activitiesPreparereferral letters and manage information updates to assist other agenciesEnsurecompliance with program policies, including monitoring tenant guest policiesPerformsother related duties as assignedYOURSTRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:MinimumGrade 12 or equivalent education requiredCriminalRecords Check Clearance in the vulnerable sector is requiredDiplomain Community Social Service considered an assetUnderstandingof working with a Trauma Informed lensAbilityto be regularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/orrecovering from trauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental healthchallenges and/or mental illnessCertificatesin First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, Naloxone and Food Safe are considered an assetExperienceworking with youth, particularly those facing homelessness, mental illness, and/oraddictions is considered an assetExperienceworking with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) is considered an assetAbilityto build trusting relationships with youth, demonstrating empathy andunderstandingEffectivewritten and verbal communication skillsMediationand conflict resolution skills to address disputes and challenges amongresidentsAbilityto maintain consistent professional boundariesFamiliaritywith health and social service systems, especially the income assistance systemUnderstandingof Harm Reduction theory and demonstrated ability to implement harm reductionstrategiesUnderstandingof Intentional Outreach, Housing First, Rapid Re-Housing,
