The Branch works in partnership with many others who share in the commitment to supporting the broad determinants of health.Position SummaryThe Cook provides clients with nutritious meals and light housekeeping support to aid in their recovery journey and administrative support to the Agency when needed. Nutritional support has been identified as an essential social determinant of health for individual wellness and recovery.Applicants must be available to work both weekday and weekend hours on a rotating basis during non-traditional operational hours.Essential Job FunctionsPreparation of meals daily for up to 32 individualsClearing of dining rooms after 6 sittings per dayMaintaining kitchen area and inventoryWeekly food ordering, inventory and rotation of stockOperating within designated budget restraintsLaundry and light cleaning duties in client designated areasProvide administrative support by filing and answering phones when neededProvides support to agency staff by preparing meeting rooms and other clerical dutiesReporting any risk or dangerous situations to in office manager or clinical staffCertified in Safe Food HandlingFood Preparation designation and certification; college certificate in kitchen preparation is preferred2 -3 years of related employment experience in the relevant fieldCertified in the following safety courses would be considered an asset : Crisis Intervention (i.E. NVCI, Safety Care, CPI or Safe Management), Standard First Aid - CPR C - AED, and Suicide Prevention (SafeTalk)Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skillsMust have access to a reliable personal vehicleActual life experience and/or lived experience with mental illness or addictions an assetBilingualism, particularly proficiency in French, would be considered a valuable assetCMHA Niagara is a culturally competent organization and is committed to building an inclusive community that respects the dignity and independence of candidates with multicultural and diverse backgrounds, multilingual abilities, and experience with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
