CMHAKelowna is hiring a full-time Case Manager. This position offers 37.5 hours aweek with a typical work week of Monday -Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.WHO IS A CASE MANAGER?The Case Manager (CM) in the RentBank program assists citizens of the Central Okanagan who are unhoused, or atsignificant risk of losing their housing, by processing client referrals andintakes. The CM provides clients with advice and supplementary supports gearedtowards helping individuals stay in their current housing or obtaining newhousing.WHATDOES A CASE MANAGER DO?Act as the main point of contact for referralenquiries and submissionsReceive referrals, processing intake andapplication forms such as bank statements and leasesConnect clients experiencing, or at significantrisk of, being unhoused to services and community resources including socialassistance, budgeting, and food security programsProvides case management,advocacy and access to information and other servicesConducts assessments with clients to determinethe appropriate service and whether they are eligible for a loan or rentsupplementConsiders other supports or services that maybenefit a client in addition to, or in lieu of financial assistance, and refersclients to those servicesExplains loan terms and conditions to clientsand manages loan agreement signing with clientsPrepares recommendations to the Manager in caseswhere the client meets the criteria for a loanAssists with applications and reviews loanapplications, verifies information submitted including supporting documentationLiaises with appropriate Finance team members toset up loan repaymentsMaintains contact with clients over the periodof loan repayments to manage issues arising during loan repayment and to ensuresuccessful repayment of the loan in fullAttends weekly case review and team meetingswith the Community Roots team and ManagerActively participates, as the representative ofthe Central Okanagan Rent Bank, in the network of BC rent banks as facilitatedby BC Rent BankAttends relevant meetings and conferences with adirect focus on housing issuesProvides an ethical,



efficient and therapeuticapproach to dealing with crisis intervention in a timely mannerNavigates conversation around self-harm applyingan Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) lensMaintains program financial and repaymenttracking through Case Management System (CMS) and internal spreadsheetsMaintains program statistics and reports, workingcollaboratively with other team members to ensure the success of the programProvides regular updates to CMHA Kelownamanagement of program statistics and key learningsProvides information for reporting to theManager as neededPerforms other related duties as assignedYOUR STRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:Diploma in Social Services or related field1-2 years relevant experienceCriminal Record Check clearance in theVulnerable SectorCertificates in First Aid, CPR and Naloxoneconsidered an assetAbility to engage respectfully with individuals withmultiple barriersCommunication and customer service skills toeffectively support clientsAbility to work in cooperation with team membersand independentlyUnderstanding of and commitment to working withpeople experiencing or being at risk of being unhousedKnowledge of social servicesystems and local resources related tohousing, social and financial services is an assetAbility to maintain consistent professionalboundaries, exercising mature judgment and understanding of safety concernsUnderstanding of basic financial concepts andtools such as household budgets, comparing income vs expenses, credit, debt,interest and loansFamiliarity with willingness to learn andunderstand basic loan contract terms and conditionsAbility to explain the rent bank loan and loanagreements in simple, easy-to-understand terms to clientsUnderstanding of Harm Reduction theory anddemonstrated ability to implement harm reduction strategiesUnderstanding of Intentional Outreach, HousingFirst, Rapid Re-Housing,
