This is a Full-Time Permanent role.Location: Ottawa, ON (On-Site)Compensation: $120-$140k per annum as base.Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and technically robust Manager, Controls Engineering to provide strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of electrical and control systems supporting production irradiator facilities. This is a working manager role — equal parts technical expert and people leader — accountable for ensuring all control systems operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.ResponsibilitiesProvide people leadership to both internal and external engineering teamsManage external vendors including contract management, resources, and budgetsBuild and develop the Controls and Electrical Engineering team by establishing structure, talent strategy, performance expectations, and long-term capability growthDrive service revenue to meet business objectives and develop current growth opportunitiesEngage with customers to define the long-term Controls System Roadmap aligned with business and operational goalsPartner with Product Management and Engineering leadership to shape product business cases and guide the innovation roadmapEnsure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standardsDrive continuous improvement across system design, development, implementation, and lifecycle supportSupport staffing, performance management, employee development,



engagement, and succession planningQualificationsEngineering degree with P.Eng designationMinimum 3 years of people management experience managing Controls Engineers and TechniciansMinimum 10 years of combined post-graduation experience in controls engineeringMinimum 8 years of leadership experience across people, project, and indirect supervisionSkills and CompetenciesHands-on experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs (working to intermediate level)Experience with Aveva InTouch SCADA systems (working to intermediate level)Knowledge of virtual machines, networking, and cybersecurityStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsStrong organizational, time management, and project management skillsCoaching, mentoring, and team development skillsProblem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressureExperience working in a regulated workplace (preferred)Additional RequirementsOccasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlinesInternational travel required — approximately 10 to 60 days per yearEqual OpportunityemergiTEL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
