This role is an expanded role of the RN and RRT and requires completion of a postgraduate (diploma) anesthesia assistant training program. The AA will provide technical and clinical assistance to the anesthesiologist. This will include assistance in the block room, inductions within the OR, sedation for endoscopic procedures, sedation for cataract surgery and assistance with Acute Pain Service.The scope of practice of the AA is defined by their own professional standards and by the Chief, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
