Sheshegwaning First Nation is seeking a highly motivated, well-organized and versatile person to fill the position of Skilled Labourer within the Housing Department. Under the supervision of the Housing Director, this person will support the work of the Housing Department.Qualifications:Secondary School graduate plus acceptable related work experience and/or trade certificate in Carpentry, preferredExperience and skills in multiple types of home repair, maintenance, and renovations workExperience working safely with power toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of building codes is an assetWorking knowledge and experience in Indigenous culture and community lifeDuties and Responsibilities:Complete repairs to Band owned housing units including minor repairs to plumbing and heating/cooling systems as well as carpentry repairs (interior/exterior),



as neededPerform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repairComplete minor renovation projects, as required, subject to fundingMaintain inventory of supplies and equipment, make minor purchases, as required, and communicate with the Housing Director to ensure efficienciesEnsure proper PPE is always worn and secure working practices are always followedAssist in maintaining a clean and safe work-siteRequired to move furniture, equipment and supplies, as neededOther duties, as assignedOpen until filled.Preference will be given to qualified members of Sheshegwaning First Nation.
