ROLE OVERVIEWAs Labourer you play a vital support role in the Construction division by assisting in construction activities.Key Roles1) On time, ready to work, in PPE2) Assist construction activity3) Follow safe work procedures4) Ask and learn5) Take responsibility and act on safetyKEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Labourer is responsible for the following:Reporting to the Foreperson, Pipe Layer, or Heavy Equipment Operator they have been scheduled to work withObtaining necessary toolsWorking diligently, following instructions and anticipating and filling crew needsCompleting daily paperworkEnsuring customer satisfaction by displaying courteous, friendly mannerEnsuring on-site quality controlMaintaining personal safety gear at all times (hard hat, hi-vis vest, steel toed boots)Perform work in accordance with all organizational, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring highest standard of safety is upheldMaintaining personal foul weather gear at all times (rain gear, rubber boots)Demonstrate CME Personal Protective Equipment standard by attending morning meeting in hard hat, high-vis safety vest, steel toed boots, eye protection, glovesLoad and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areasErect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sitesMix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphaltAssist tradespersons such as carpenters in construction activitiesAssist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment,



signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and aid in other activitiesAssist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during hydro, telephone, sewer, and water pipeline constructionAssist in drilling and blasting rock at construction sitesLevel earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovelAssist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materialsRemove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipmentOperate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directedTend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumpsSafely fuel company equipment using the fuel truck, ensuring proper handling, spill prevention, accurate documentation, and compliance with environmental requirements.Oil and grease hoists and similar equipmentDirect traffic at or near construction sitesPerform other activities at construction sites, asArriving at scheduled assembly point on time and ready for workKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe Labourer will demonstrate the following abilities in their daily work:Reliable,
