S/he is also responsible for the implementation of operational and strategic objectives. The Manager will, together with the Director, and the Community Based Division Head, manage the functioning of services within the MH Program Community Based Division. Working with the Medical Leads, Clinical Leans and PPLs, s/he will directly supervise and facilitate development of staff within assigned areas, and oversee the establishment of a solid cohesive team. Working with the Director and the Leadership team, s/he will contribute to program planning and implementation, quality improvement initiatives and will promote an environment of creativity and innovation in the delivery of services.
S/he may be responsible for management of off‐site services.Main ResponsibilitiesManage and supervise designated services within the Mental Health Community Based DivisionParticipating in the development of Program strategiesImplementing the Programs strategiesParticipating in the development of Corporate Goals and Objectives and providing expert advice to the Executive Team.Working in collaboration with staff and physicians in other Programs/Departments to ensure effective delivery of patient care/servicesLead strategic partnerships with community agencies, school boards, primary care providers, hospitals, MCCSS and CYMH Ministry of Health partners to improve service integration and accessRepresent CHEO Mental Health on regional and provincial planning tables and working groups.Support implementation of system transformation initiatives and regional care pathwaysMonitor service demand, wait times, client flow, and access targetsLead operational planning and performance improvement initiatives to improve timely access to careSupport development and implementation of clinical pathways, standards of care, and best practicesManaging human resources effectively which includes:Hiring staff, scheduling staff, managing staff performance, managing attendanceEnsuring compliance with health and safety regulationsConducting performance appraisals and dealing with performance related issues, imposing discipline, recommending terminationsEnsuring staff have the required resources to carry out their functionsManage within assigned budgets; monitor expenses; process paymentsRespond to environmental issues to provide for a safe and healthy work environmentLiaise with external agencies to enhance regional relationships and projects with respect to mental health careRepresent the Mental Health on hospital and community committees as requiredActively participate in Quality Improvement and Risk Management initiatives for the Mental Health ProgramSupport adoption and optimization of electronic health records (Epic) and digital care toolsLead change management activities related to technology, workflow redesign, and service innovationFoster a psychologically safe, inclusive, and healthy workplace cultureLead initiatives related to staff engagement, wellbeing, retention, and workforce developmentOversee management of workplace violence prevention strategies and support staff responding to complex clinical situationsDesign, implement, promote, and evaluate educational materials/activities for the MH ProgramFollow up on Incident reports generated through the Safety Reporting SystemEnsure the development and ongoing updating of MH Program manuals/procedures/policies.
Ensure that all revisions and additions are communicated to policyholdersWork in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health to provide support and guidance to teams within the MH ProgramEnsure that staff has adequate training in order to provide quality service to patients and families in the MH ProgramWork in collaboration with the Staffing Office to ensure adequate coverage of staff to provide quality service to patients and families in the MH ProgramPerform other duties as assigned by the Director Community Based, Mental HealthQualificationsBaccalaureate Degree in nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Health or Social Sciences (Essential)Master's degree in management or administration (Preferred)Experience/knowledge in the implementation of quality improvement frameworks (Essential)Minimum of three (3) years of related management experience, preferably in a Mental Health program (Preferred)Project Management Experience (Preferred)Experience using performance dashboards and data visualization tools (Preferred)Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation (Essential)Demonstrated ability to interpret and utilize operational, quality, financial, and clinical outcome data to support decision‐making (Preferred)Use software relevant to the position i.E. Word, SCM, and other hospital based computer applications (Essential)Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing (Essential)Deal effectively with internal customers and external customers (Essential)Demonstrated expertise in a leadership role (Essential)This position requires travel to offsite locations.
