FitzGerald and Snow (2010) Ltd. is a leader in the construction industry on Prince Edward Island and we are looking for the right individual to strengthen our estimating team at our Charlottetown office.Position OverviewThe Estimator is responsible for preparing timely, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for tendered and negotiated construction projects, working closely with Project Managers, subtrades, and suppliers throughout the bidding process.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed, accurate cost estimates covering labour, material, equipment, and subtrade pricingPerform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications, using conventional and software-based methodsSolicit, review, and compare pricing from subcontractors and suppliersInterpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project scopeAssemble and submit competitive bids and tender packages within required deadlinesTrack industry pricing trends and maintain up-to-date cost dataCollaborate with Project Managers to finalize scope, pricing, and sub-trade selectionIncorporate addenda, drawing revisions,



and scope changes into estimatesAssist in the preparation of preliminary schedules and budgetary estimatesPrepare proposalsSupport subcontract buyout and negotiations following awardCompile and hand off complete bid/estimate packages to the Project Manager upon award to support project start-upConduct post-bid reviews and maintain historical cost data to refine future estimatesQualificationsConstruction & Technology Management diploma, Bachelor's degree in Construction Management/Engineering, or proven working experience in construction estimating2+ years' experience in construction estimating (commercial, institutional, or industrial preferred)Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codesProficiency with estimating/takeoff software and Microsoft OfficeExcellent analytical, mathematical, and problem‐solving skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to meet strict bid deadlinesAbility to read and interpret drawings and specificationsCompensation & ScheduleJob Type: Full time, PermanentPay: $70,000 – $110,000 yearly, commensurate with experienceSchedule: 8-hour shift, 40 hrs/week, Monday to FridayBenefitsGroup Health & Dental BenefitsRRSP matching3 weeks paid vacationEducationConstruction & Technology Management Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/Engineering, or equivalent experienceTagged as: 22303Essential Skills:Computer UseNumeracyOral CommunicationReadingSoft Skills:Attention to DetailCritical ThinkingDependabilityProblem SolvingHard Skills:BlueprintsCommercial ConstructionDigital Skills:Microsoft ExcelLanguages:English
