We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of our retirement communities. This role focuses on general repairs, routine and preventative maintenance, and ensuring residents live in a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment.This is a practical, working role best suited for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with their hands, and taking pride in maintaining high-quality living spaces.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general maintenance and minor, non-certified repairs (including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting), and assess when work should be referred to licensed professionalsRespond to maintenance requests in a timely, respectful, and professional mannerRepair and maintain doors, locks, fixtures, lighting, flooring, and appliancesComplete minor drywall repairs, painting, and general touch-upsAssist with basic HVAC maintenance (e.G., filter changes and belt replacements)Support suite turnover (including repairs, painting, and minor fixes)Conduct basic property inspections and report larger issues to managementMaintain safe, clean, and well-kept common areas, hallways, and outdoor spacesPerform seasonal duties such as snow removal and salting at entrances, exits, and walkways, along with light groundskeeping and daily garbage pickup around the building.Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized mannerAssist with furniture moves, waste removal, and general operational support as requiredProvide staff education to avoid repeated and/or similar issues or repairsWork LocationsProvide maintenance support across four (4)



retirement community locations within HRMTravel between sites as required based on operational needsOn-Call ExpectationsParticipate in a rotating on-call scheduleRespond to after-hours maintenance emergencies (e.G., leaks, power issues, safety concerns)Be reachable and able to respond within a reasonable timeframe while on callShuttle ResponsibilitiesProvide shuttle driving for residents between communities, appointments, or scheduled outingsEnsure the vehicle is clean and in valuable working condition, report maintenance concernsFollow all safety and driving regulations while transporting residentsQualifications & SkillsPrevious experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, or handyman workBasic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building repairsAbility to assess issues, troubleshoot, and complete minor repairs independentlyStrong awareness of when to elevate work to qualified trades professionalsComfortable using hand and power tools safelyPhysically capable of lifting, climbing ladders, and performing active work throughout the dayValid driver's license and clean driving recordWorking with ResidentsFriendly, respectful, and professional in all interactionsPatient and considerate when working in residents' homesAble to communicate clearly and explain work in simple, understandable termsRespectful of resident privacy, dignity, and personal spaceWork EnvironmentCombination of indoor and outdoor workPhysically active, hands-on roleTravel between multiple locations as requiredOn-call and occasional after-hours work requiredWhy This Role MattersYou play a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our residents.
