Job Description: Clinical Health Assistant (CHA)Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 am -6:00 pmReporting to the Clinic Manager, the Clinical Health Assistant (CHA) is typically the first point of clinical contact for patients and is responsible for providing care and support to patients in the clinical environment, as well as helping them navigate community resources. Similar to that of a Medical Office Assistant, the Clinical Health Assistant (CHA) features an exciting expanded scope aspect to this role as a non-physician practitioner which allows for more training and educational opportunities. The Clinical Health Assistant works collaboratively with other CHAs, their Primary Care Nurse supervisor and a physician lead to manage an assigned panel of patients. This will be a demanding, challenging, and rewarding role within the clinic.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirect Patient Work:Communicates with patients by phone as per team member task requestsGreets and rooms patientsReviews routine screening for prevention and detection of diseases and/or illnesses and initiates requisitions for servicesPerforms vitalsElicits focused histories for specialized presenting concernsAssists in minor procedures as requiredChaperons for sensitive examsProvider initial blood and urine screeningUpdates EMR as requiredPrints patient visit summary for patient or third parties.Indirect Patient Work:Participate in morning huddle with nurse,
physician and residentsPrepare schedule and charts for next day's patientsWork with the team nurse to follow up on any team tasksOrganize group visits – materials, patients, logistics, staff required, and notification of patientsAHS, WCB and third-party billingNon-patient Work:Create supply lists, cleans and stocks roomsCleans computers, monitors and surfaces in exam roomsQualificationsMedical Office Assistant diploma/certificationCriminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check2+ years' medical office experience, Primary Care experience considered an assetEMR experience an assetProficient with Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent communication and time management skillsWilling to train for expanded scope practices such as Phlebotomies, ECG's, etc.Qualified and friendly mannerEnthusiastic and thrives in a fast paced and changing environmentApplicants in consideration will be required to adhere to a criminal record search.We provide competitive compensation, professional development, and a full benefits package:Medical/Dental/VisionMaternity LeaveParental LeavePaid HolidaysVacation/Paid Sick LeaveRRSPApplicants in consideration will be required to adhere to a criminal record search.
