The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and contemporary, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.This statement was co-created in partnership with the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island.The Business Application Analyst supports the organization by analyzing business needs, improving processes, and enabling effective use of technology, applications, and data. This role works collaboratively with stakeholders to gather requirements, support system implementations, ensure data quality, and deliver solutions that align with organizational objectives.The Business Application Analyst plays a key role in bridging business and technical teams, support system enhancements, reporting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements, including responsibility for ministry reporting and data submissions.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis & Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with business units to gather, document, and validate business requirementsTranslate business needs into functional and technical specificationsFacilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions with stakeholders across departmentsProvide guidance and support to users on business processes, system functionality, and best practicesAct as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partnersData Management, Reporting & ComplianceAnalyze, validate, and ensure integrity of organizational data across systemsCoordinate, validate and support the submission of Ministry, regulatory and statutory, and other internal and external data collections and reporting requirements.Interpret and apply business rules, policies, and regulatory requirements to data collection and reporting processesEnsure data submissions supporting funding, accountability, audit, and compliance obligations are complete and meet established standards, timelines, and audit requirementsInvestigate data discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, data reconciliation and implement corrective actionsCollaborate with stakeholders to resolve data quality and compliance issuesDevelop and maintain documentation related to data definitions, reporting procedures, and compliance requirementsRegulatory & Ministry ComplianceInterpret and operationalize regulatory guidelines, policies,
and reporting instructions into business processesProvide subject matter expertise and guidance to stakeholders on compliance requirementsSupport organizational accountability by ensuring data accuracy for regulatory submissions, audits, and funding-related processesLiaise with external agencies and regulatory bodies, as required, to clarify requirements and resolve issuesMonitor changes to legislation, policies, and reporting standards, and assess impacts to systems and processesRecommend and implement process or system changes to maintain ongoing complianceCoordinate and support responses to Ministry inquiries, audits, compliance reviews, data validation activities, and other reporting obligations.Systems & Application SupportProvide second-level support for business applications, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and coordination with business and technical stakeholders.Monitor system performance and coordinate with technical teams to resolve issuesParticipate in system upgrades, enhancements, and implementationsDevelop and maintain user documentation, training materials, and support resourcesEvaluate and recommend system enhancements, process improvements and technology solutions.Quality Assurance & TestingDevelop and execute test plans, test cases, and test data to validate system functionalityEnsure alignment between business requirements and system solutions through testing and solution validation activitiesIdentify, document, and track defects, issues, risks and process gaps and support resolution effortsParticipate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and release validation and post – implementation verification activitiesPromote best practices in testing and quality assuranceProject & Process ImprovementParticipate in and/or lead projects related to system implementation, enhancement, or process improvementAnalyze current business processes and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiencySupport change management activities, including communication, training, stakeholder engagement and adoptionContribute to the development of policies, procedures, and standardsCoordinate business analysis, testing, reporting and stakeholder activities in support of projects, implementation, and operational objectives.EducationCompletion of an undergraduate university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.Relevant professional certifications in areas such as IT service management, business analysis, project management,
