In this core role, you will take full ownership of daily buying requirements, work with the Procurement Supervisor for product sourcing and implement strategic vendor initiatives to protect profit margins and ensure competitive pricing.What You'll DoExecute daily purchasing functions, taking complete ownership and responsibility for all customer demands and corresponding buying requirementsMaintain and control vendor files to ensure costs and specifications are accurateManage vendor relationships and engage in continuous improvement strategies to optimize costs, delivery terms,



and other related metrics to ensure maximum profitability and competitive costsPerform regular analysis on current & existing items to ensure our pricing is competitive & profitableWork closely with Operations and internal stakeholders to align purchasing with customer needs and expectationsWork with Accounts Payable team to ensure vendor accounts are in good standingTrack market price and sales trends for key commodities to time purchases and mitigate price volatilityPrepare reports on buying metrics, savings, and trends for managementDevelop and implement buying plans and sourcing strategies for key spend areasDevelop supplier programs, including performance scorecards, price models, and risk assessment programsAnalyze supplier quotations to select the most cost-effective buying options without sacrificing qualityPrepare customer proposals based on client specifications, ensuring accurate and profitable item costingAbility to work core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern standard time Monday through FridayOther duties as requiredWhat You BringSome post secondary technical training from an accredited institution or minimum 2 years experience in buying. Experience in packaging or redistribution would be an assetStrong mathematical skillsExcellent analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skillsExceptional written and verbal communication/documentation skillsKnowledge of effective negotiation skills and how to apply them to standard business transactionsAbility to efficiently manage multiple tasks and schedule prioritiesSelf-motivated,
