Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist for employment in Canada. This is a new position as part of our ongoing expansion of fluvial geomorphology expertise in environmental and engineering projects. The successful applicant will be a motivated individual excited to contribute to the growth of AECOM's fluvial geomorphology practice area across Canada. The fluvial geomorphologist will work with AECOM's team of geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, and ecologists to deliver a variety of stream restoration projects, including restoring natural processes and habitat conditions, erosion control and fish passage improvements, assisting with hazard identification, and facilitating infrastructure improvements.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Utilizing scientific principles, theories, practices, and technologies to develop solutions for technical problems of limited scopeCollecting and entering data, applying technical principles and theoriesInterpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, and comparing findings to relevant studies and local, provincial, and federal regulations to ensure complianceLeading 'Natural Channel Design' and stream restoration projects, completing assessments on existing and proposed conditions to provide enhancement recommendations and design inputConducting detailed field investigations and assessments,



including sediment transport and scour analysisAnalyzing and interpreting geomorphic and hydraulic dataWriting and reviewing technical reportsCollaborating across offices and disciplines in Canada, and participating in meetings with clients and stakeholdersQualificationsMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.G., geomorphology, river engineering, earth science)Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experienceFamiliarity with GIS and CAD softwareKnowledge of fluvial form, processes, and functions, including their dependence on local physiography and influence on ecological habitatsExperience with river and stream channel hydraulics and channel stability analysisExperience in environmental data collection, identification, investigation, data entry, and assessmentsExperience developing stream restoration and enhancement recommendationsAbility to travel, including to remote areas, and efficiently conduct fieldworkPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree specializing in fluvial geomorphology is an asset10 years + of relevant work experienceFamiliarity with Natural Channel Design approaches, from concept development through detailed design, construction implementation,



and monitoringExperience using GIS and hydraulic modeling applications for study design and data analysisGeohazard mapping and slope stability analysis experienceExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience with proposal writing and/or project managementStrong attention to detailAbility to manage personal project workload and meet deadlinesEligibility for professional registration (P.Geo. and/or P.Eng.)Additional InformationTo support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in‐person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
