Key functions include purchase of groceries, nutritional menu planning, food preparation, sanitization and clean up.SCOPEWorks under the direction of the Principals/Directors of the Schools and College and in accordance with Food Safe Practices, Valuable Nutrition and the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board (WSB) policy/procedures. The scope of the work includes the preparation of a hot lunch to all students and staff. Also responsible for promoting and ensuring proper nutrition and cleanliness.



Employees may be required to conduct duties of the same position in alternate departments as operational needs arise.HOURS OF WORK7 hrs per day based on a schedule to be determined in accordance with the operational needs of the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board.QualificationsEducation, Training and CertificationCompletion of Grade 10 and one year of directly related training or experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceValid Food Safe Certificate, First Aid certificate and Criminal Record CheckJourneyman Cook Trade Certificate with a Red Seal Qualification preferredKnowledge And AbilitiesConsiderable knowledge of Food Safe Practices and good nutritionPlan menus incorporating a variety of dietary needs, identify and cooking needsAccuracy and attention to detail with a concern for cleanliness and safetyResolve routine problems and refer non routine problems to supervisorInitiate and complete daily, weekly, monthly tasks and routinesWork as part of a team, sharing information and workloadCommunicate verbally, clearly and constructively with staff, students and the publicPreference will be given to First Nations Ancestry.FULL JOB DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST*
