Job DescriptionAs a Production Engineering Technologist, you will play a key role in designing and planning the processes, tools, and temporary systems required to build and deliver high-quality ships.Working within the Production Engineering Shipyard team, you will focus on developing and coordinating temporary service solutions that enable safe and effective production activities across new construction and ship repair initiatives.This role requires strong collaboration across Production, Planning, Safety, Procurement, and Engineering teams to ensure temporary services are seamlessly integrated into work packages, schedules, and material readiness plans.ResponsibilitiesDevelop temporary service plans (scaffolding, ventilation, access, power, lighting, safety systems) across ship construction scopesCreate and update layouts, drawings, and redlines for temporary openings and installationsMonitor production and incorporate lessons learned into continuous improvementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to align plans with schedules and material readinessSupport constructability reviews and provide drafting assistance as neededEnsure compliance with safety standards and project requirementsQualificationsEngineering degree or Engineering Technologist diploma2–5 years of shipbuilding, ship design, or heavy manufacturing experienceKnowledge of production planning, materials, and resource capacityAbility to perform basic calculations and produce sketches/drawingsStrong attention to detail and practical problem‑solving skillsDue to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S.
