As an ambassador of The Sundial Hotel Whistler, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Team, ensuring the hotel, suites, equipment, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards.The Maintenance Supervisor will lead and support the maintenance team in completing preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and daily operational tasks. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall experience of our guests, employees, and owners.The Maintenance Supervisor will also work closely with the General Manager and other department leaders to prioritize maintenance needs, coordinate work orders, manage contractors and suppliers, and ensure projects and repairs are completed efficiently and professionally.This role extends beyond the job description—team members will be trained across various departments and may be required to assist wherever needed to deliver seamless, exceptional service.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & CommunicationSupervise, support, and provide direction to the Maintenance TeamCoordinate daily maintenance tasks and prioritize work based on urgency and operational needsFoster strong communication and cooperation across all departments, suppliers, contractors, and partnersMaintain comprehensive knowledge of both the Sundial Boutique Hotel and Carleton Lodge layouts, facilities, and equipmentCommunicate maintenance concerns and operational updates clearly with management and other departmentsSupport the training and development of maintenance team membersSafetyMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentEnsure the Maintenance Team follows all health and safety policies and proceduresEnsure proper use of cleaning chemicals, tools, equipment, and protective gearIdentify, report, and address safety concerns promptlyMaintain a full working knowledge of emergency procedures,
including the hotel fire panelEnsure hot tub inspections and chemical testing are completed and properly documentedAdministrationAssign, complete, and track Work Orders and charge-backsMonitor and follow up on outstanding maintenance requestsMaintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and documentationRespond to emails and team requests in a timely and professional mannerAssist management with maintenance planning, purchasing, and budgeting when requiredCoordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers as neededMaintenance & FacilitiesOversee and execute the hotel's preventative maintenance programComplete and monitor maintenance requests and inspections throughout the propertiesPerform and oversee minor repairs, including drywall, tile, locks, fixtures, plumbing, electrical, and general building repairsTroubleshoot and assist guests with in-room technology and equipment issuesEnsure common areas, building exteriors, garbage areas, and equipment rooms are maintainedCoordinate snow removal and salting of common areas as requiredMonitor hotel equipment and facilities and proactively identify maintenance needsEnsure suites and common areas are maintained to hotel standardsAssist with larger maintenance projects and renovations as requiredSecurity & Emergency ResponsePatrol hotel properties (Sundial and Carleton Lodge) as requiredRespond to hotel alarms, maintenance emergencies, and incidents promptlyLiaise with external authorities,
including police and fire services, when necessaryComplete and file occurrence reportsMonitor property conditions and address potential security or safety concernsSupport the hotel's emergency response proceduresPerformance ExpectationsDemonstrate and promote the company's core valuesLead by example and maintain a positive and professional work environmentAdhere to the mission, vision, and guiding principlesBe punctual, dependable, and respectful toward all team membersProvide clear direction and support to the Maintenance TeamOffer support across departments whenever possibleMeet deadlines and fulfill commitmentsProactively monitor hotel conditions and address issues before they impact guestsCommunicate professionally in all internal and external formatsMaintain strict confidentiality regarding guest and owner informationSolve problems effectively and make sound decisionsManage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detailWork well independently and as part of a teamJob RequirementsPrevious maintenance, facilities, or building operations experience requiredPrevious supervisory or leadership experienceTrade experience or certification in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or a related field is a solid assetStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExcellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectivelyAbility to work independently and confidently make decisionsValid driver's licence is an asset$30-32 per hourFree staff parking in Whistler VillageFree bike/ski storage at the hotelStaff activitiesExtended Health Benefits after 6 months (Full-Time)Seasonal Summer/Winter Bonus (Full-Time)
