Accounts Payable Analyst

Treasury employees receive, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to God's commandments) for the Church's religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders. Prepare, analyse, and review financial statements and budgets. Prepare management reports, train personnel in financial principles, help prepare policies and procedures, and perform internal reviews and some accounting functions.

Customers, including operational and financial managers and supervisors, will receive information that will help them conduct the business and financial affairs of a large, complex unit or division in a legal and professional manner.

Responsibilities

- Financial Analysis
- Perform analytical reviews of bank statements, reconciling appropriation and cash flow budgets with the general ledger.
- Anticipate future financial needs, monitor accounts, and ensure adequate funding.
- Identify trends, risks, and potential concerns, recommending and initiating adjustments where necessary.
- Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure correct coding to the general ledger and compliance with GAAP, Accounting Standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal control reviews, including budget transfers, appropriation documents, and vendor documentation.
- Ensure financial compliance with banking regulations in every country of operation.
- Payments & Transactions Management
- Oversee incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring failed or delayed payments are handled promptly.
- Review and approve one-time payments,



process and record statutory and non-payroll payments.
- Capture and approve payments in IAN, including single payments, manual payments, and salary payments.
- Reconcile appropriation and cash flow transactions to the general ledger.
- Investigate and resolve deposit and payment discrepancies, including payment rejections.
- Cross-Border Payments
- Process and oversee payments to international vendors and partners, ensuring timely execution and compliance with local and international banking regulations.
- Verify all supporting documentation, such as invoices, contracts, and payment approvals, to minimise the risk of errors or rejections.
- Coordinate with banks to ensure proper SWIFT instructions, currency conversions, and adherence to foreign exchange regulations.
- Investigate and resolve any payment issues, delays, or rejections, ensuring funds are received accurately by beneficiaries.
- Maintain detailed records of cross-border transactions and provide reports to management for monitoring and financial planning purposes.
- Banking Operations & Funding
- Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions, including account openings, closures, reactivations, and signatory updates.
- Approve funding requests in GFS, review daily bank balances, authorize sweeps, and top up working funds.
- Ensure KYC/FICA compliance and complete necessary banking forms for recent accounts.
- Manage cross-border payments, bank guarantees, and asset disposal payment confirmations.
- Bank Guarantees
- Manage the full lifecycle of bank guarantees, ensuring proper documentation,



approvals, and follow-up.
- Vet payment requests, offers to purchase, and seller's attorney letters to confirm accuracy and compliance before issuing guarantees.
- Prepare and send bank guarantee forms to purchaser's attorneys and track the returned documents for completeness.
- Review returned bank guarantees and complete banking details to ensure all information is accurate.
- Generate formal instructions to banks for the execution of guarantee payments, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and internal policies.
- Maintain records of all bank guarantees and liaise with business partners to provide proof of guarantee issuance or fulfilment.

Qualifications

Required

- Degree in Accounting/ Finance / Business Management/Banking.
- 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, business management, or a related field.
- Demonstrate understanding of accounting principles and the church accounting system
- Ability to effectively use a personal computer operating in a network setting with demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and automated accounting and reporting software.
