:

The Activity Aide is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and social activities designed to meet physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs and interests of our residents. This role is integral in promoting a positive and engaging environment that enhances the quality of life for residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A post-secondary diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or individuals who are enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field.

- Experience working with seniors or in a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Understanding of the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of elderly residents.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; knowledge of the Latvian language is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient approach to working with residents.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge and experience in the documentation process including Activity Pro and Point Click Care; RAI documentation and processes of Care planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in the development and delivery of a diverse range of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, music, games, exercise programs, social events, and outings.
- Engage residents in activities according to the program calendar, tailored to individual abilities and interests, while promoting participation and socialization.
- Escort residents to and from activities, meals, and other social engagements.




- Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring comfort, safety, and overall well-being.
- Set up and clean activity areas before and after programs to maintain a safe, organized workplace.
- Document resident participation and engagement in the appropriate databases to support individualized care planning.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, volunteers, and families to enhance the resident experience and address individual needs.
- Accompany residents on outings, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Assist with the preparation of activity materials and resources.
- Provide feedback to the Recreational and Social Activities Programs Manager regarding resident responses and recommend improvements or new program ideas.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to remain informed of best practices in resident care and engagement.
- Adhere to the home’s policies and departmental protocols and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
