Lakeland College is currently accepting applications for the position of Laboratory Technician within the School of Agriculture Sciences. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to both faculty and students participating in the Veterinary Technology (in-person and blended delivery) and Veterinary Medical Assistant programs.

Hands-on learning is a foundational aspect of Lakeland College education. Our students learn real-world skills on our campus farm and in our accredited Animal Health Clinic.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate laboratory sessions by assisting in their setup and subsequent cleanup.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens used for teaching purposes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the upkeep of laboratory facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate closely with faculty and students, providing valuable support in a laboratory setting.




- Maintain clinic logs and detailed animal records.
- Provide high-quality animal care to patients on campus.

Job Requirements

- Registered Veterinary Technologist in good standing with the ABVMA.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Exhibit the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Showcase exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate practical experience in working with small and large animals.
- Display proficiency in computer skills and practice management software.

Additional Information

This is a Full time Temporary position governed by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and will be based on the Vermilion campus. Salary Range of $54,853 - $69,125. The selected candidate’s salary will align with their education and relevant experience. Anticipated start date of October 1, 2026.
