BrightenCPA is a growing, cloud-based CPA firm providing bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting and accounting support to businesses and nonprofit organizations across Canada.We're looking for an experienced Cloud Accounting Manager to join our team.This is a hands-on role for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys working with clients, reviewing the work of others, and taking ownership of client files from monthly bookkeeping through financial reporting.WHAT YOU'LL DOManage a portfolio of bookkeeping and cloud accounting clientsReview monthly bookkeeping and ensure client files are accurate and completeReview bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet accounts and supporting schedulesReview monthly and quarterly financial statements and investigate unusual balances or transactionsPrepare and review adjusting journal entriesOversee month-end and year-end close processesReview GST/HST and other indirect tax filingsReview payroll reports, payroll reconciliations and payroll-related general ledger accountsEnsure wages, source deductions, benefits, vacation and employer payroll costs are properly recorded and reconciledWork with the payroll team to identify and resolve discrepanciesReview the work of bookkeepers and provide explicit feedback and guidanceCommunicate directly with clients to resolve accounting questions and obtain missing informationPrepare year-end working papers and support external accountants and auditorsManage client deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and on timeHelp strengthen our internal accounting processes, templates and quality-control proceduresWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR5+ years of hands-on full-cycle accounting,



bookkeeping or client accounting experienceStrong understanding of accrual accounting, month-end close and financial reportingExperience reviewing the work of bookkeepers or accountantsGood understanding of payroll accounting and payroll reconciliationsStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsComfortable managing multiple client files and deadlinesClear and professional written and verbal communicationAble to work independently and take ownership of issues through completionExperience working in a CPA firm or bookkeeping firm is strongly preferred.Experience with Dext, Plooto, Payworks or similar cloud accounting and payroll systems is an asset.A CPA designation is an asset, but not required.
