This posting represents a current and active vacancyJob Reports to: Director of FinanceSalary: $117,408 – $146,728SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Director of Finance, participates in financial activities within the department for the CDSB in accordance with related legislation, CDSB policies and procedures and CDSB Vision & Values.The CDSB vision is to further develop a district service environment that is responsive to community needs, which values the individuality of its residents, is respectful to all who receive and deliver services, and fosters personal and professional growth and teamwork among all employees.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITIONPrepares, reviews, analyzes, and distributes financial information and reportsEvaluates and communicates the financial impact of government and third-party policy and funding decisionsAdvises program directors on budgets, expenditures, forecastsDesigns and creates report templates as needed by programsMonitors internal controls and procedures in accordance with department policyAssists in the planning, forecasting and preparation of annual budgetsAssists in the Housing Providers' bookkeeping and audit processesAssists in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, and Ministry financial and budget reportingGuides month-end and year-end preparation and processesOversees annual and interim audit processes, assigns audit tasksParticipates in monthly reconciliation and reporting of HST/GST and annual T4 preparation and reconciliationParticipates in financial reporting to OMERSProvides back up in the administration of accounting systemsMonitors/reviews the posting/balancing of sub-ledgers, journals and records, ensures entries adhere to GAAP/PSAB, and reviews AR/AP/payroll transactionsAssists in the review and preparation of account reconciliations and journal entries for month-end close and quarterly and annual reportingPrepares and reviews year-end working paper filesParticipates in cross-functional teams and provides expertise and support to other departments as requiredProvides internal client services to peers/co-workers throughout the organizationProvides back up and support to the Director of Finance, Controller, and Accounting Manager as requiredPerforms other duties as assigned by the Director of FinanceCORE COMPETENCIESWritten and Oral Communication – Listens to others and communicates articulately through speech and in writing. Ensures compliance to financial policies, procedures and financial controls within the unitFinancial Systems – Participates in testing, implementing and maintaining business processes, procedures, controls, and software applications that produce financial and other related information. Maintains computer literacy on the systems critical to the finance function. Develops and delivers training on departmental financial systems and business processes.
