Assistant Dispatcher – Full time

Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 5:30PM

We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and customer-focused Assistant Dispatcher to join our Operations team.

In this role, you will support the day-to-day coordination of pickup and delivery operations while working closely with customers, drivers, cartage providers and internal departments to help ensure freight moves safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

What You’ll Do:

· Support daily Dispatch operations by coordinating pickup and delivery activities.

· Answer customer calls, gather service information, and accurately record pickup requests.

· Provide pickup and delivery instructions to drivers within the assigned area, as directed by Dispatch.

· Monitor driver schedules, yard time, travel time, breaks, workload, pickups, and deliveries, escalating service or operational concerns when required.

· Assist with driver and cartage scheduling based on freight volumes, routes, customer requirements, and operational priorities.

· Monitor driver hours and overtime in accordance with the Collective Agreement and company policies and procedures.

· Monitor traffic, road delays, customer constraints, and other operational conditions that may affect service, and communicate changes to the appropriate teams.





· Support shift handovers by communicating outstanding issues, service concerns, and pending priorities.

· Work closely with Dock, Linehaul, Customer Service, Operations, and other departments to ensure customer and service requirements are understood and addressed.

· Provide backfill coverage for Dispatchers and the Dispatch Assistant as required.

· Provide Linehaul support as required.

· Participate in other related duties and projects as assigned.

What You Bring:

· Successful completion of Grade 12, with a minimum of two (2) years’ transportation industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

· Experience in LTL transportation, dispatch, logistics, or freight operations.

· Knowledge of LTL freight-handling requirements.

· Solid knowledge of the geography of British Columbia.

· Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS); TruckMate experience is preferred.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

· Flexibility to work occasional adjusted schedules as operationally required.
