The position is responsible for maintaining facilities for staff, students and public in a safeoperating condition, maintain a preventative maintenance program; and resolve immediateoperational and/or safety concerns as directed.QUALIFICATIONSGrade 12 high school diploma or equivalentProvince of Alberta Class 5 driver's license with clean driver's abstractExperience and training in the areas of general repair, carpentry, plumbing, heating, mechanical and other building systemsAble to read, write and speak English effectively for the purposes of work related communicationsBeing able to meet physical demands such as climbing and standing on ladders whileworking at heights, stretching, reaching, bending, standing, crawling etcCompetent in basic use of computerAbility to read/comprehend/write detailed instructions, forms and reports Knowledge of protected work practices and applicable proceduresMaintain certifications required to perform required duties (e.G. fall arrest, aerial lift operation, first aid, WHMIS, etc)Effective verbal, listening and written communication skillsAble to build and maintain effective relationships with school administration, students, staff, parents and publicReliable,



with integrity and able to work as part of a diverse teamAble to safely lift and move heavy objects (up to 23 kgs) and use of applicable tools andequipment required for maintenance workRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESMove, transport, assemble furniture and equipmentPerform repair of general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipmentat all district or directed locationsCoordinate with Administration for the purpose of completing projects/work ordersInspect facilities, systems and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs, preventative maintenanceand meeting insurance and HSE regulationsInstall of items (e.G. white boards, bulletin boards) as directedComplete all work orders safely and within established time framesMaintain tools and/or equipment; transport them if requiredRepair various items, systems and/or components to ensure that they are in safe working conditionResponds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concernsActivating and deactivating building alarms and responding to alarm calls after and duringregular work hoursAttend to other maintenance duties as assigned by Manager or designateAll FMCSD employees must have on file a clear Criminal Reference and a Vulnerable Sector Check. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
