Our railway provides producers and businesses with a competitive option for moving their products to market andproviding important access to international markets.Summary of the RoleGreat Western Railway Ltd. is seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to fill a full-time, temporary maternity leave position as an Operations Coordinator.This position is primarily based in our Shaunavon office and generally follows a Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.M. to 4:00 p.M. schedule, with some weekend availability required for time-sensitive operational matters. We offer versatile work hours to accommodate the variable nature of railway operations.This is a key role within our organization, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of our railway and ensuring communication and scheduling run smoothly between crews, shops, track maintenance, customers, facilities and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a constantly changing schedule, communicating with a wide range of people, and keeping multiple moving parts organized. A significant part of the position involves working with our railway operations software; full training on our software and systems will be provided.Responsibilities would include,



but not be limited to:Monitor weekly operational reports and schedule and coordinate train crewsCoordinate with customers and facilities regarding rail movements, operational plans and schedule changesMonitor car availability, manage car orders and coordinate inbound/outbound car flowMonitor and respond to time-sensitive operational issues, including outside regular office hoursTransportation Management System:Manage interchanges with CPKC and inventory at Interchange pointMaintain accurate railcar, waybill and movement information within Wabtec's Transportation Management System (TMS)Update blocking and classification to ensure correct routingEnsure railcar and customer information is accurate for billing and invoicingIdentify and correct data discrepancies in system recordsCoordinate with crews and staff to ensure field activity is reflected in TMSRequirementsHighly organized and detail-orientedProficient in Word, Excel & OutlookExcellent time management and problem-solvingComfortable learning new software and systemsAble to manage multiple priorities accuratelyRailway experience not required - training providedHealth, dental, vision and prescription drug coverageDisability coverageLife insurancePaid vacation and statutory holidaysPaid flex days, with unused days paid out as a year-end bonusTraining and professional development opportunitiesAt GWR, we want to encourage a safety-first culture.
