Position Summary

Anderson Precision Auto Pro is seeking a motivated Automotive Service Apprentice to join our team. This position is designed for an individual pursuing their Automotive Service Technician Red Seal certification who wants to develop strong diagnostic, repair, and professional shop skills.

The Automotive Service Apprentice works under the guidance of licensed technicians while progressively taking on more responsibility as their skills and apprenticeship level advance. Our goal is to develop apprentices into knowledgeable, efficient, and professional technicians capable of accurately diagnosing and repairing modern vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform vehicle maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs appropriate to your apprenticeship level.
- Perform oil services, fluid services, brake repairs, steering and suspension repairs, tire service, cooling system repairs, and other general automotive repairs.
- Assist licensed technicians with advanced diagnostic and repair procedures.
- Develop skills in electrical, drivability, engine performance, HVAC, and computerized vehicle systems.
- Properly perform and document digital vehicle inspections.
- Identify required repairs, maintenance concerns, and potential safety issues.
- Provide accurate inspection results, measurements, notes, photos, and technician recommendations for the Service Advisor.
- Follow work orders and complete authorized repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Verify repairs and perform quality-control checks before vehicles are returned to customers.
- Maintain accurate time records and properly document work performed.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, service information, shop procedures, and industry best practices.
- Properly use and maintain personal tools, shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hoists, and specialty tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Participate in shop training, technical training, and apprenticeship schooling.
- Follow all shop safety policies, WHMIS requirements,



and procedures for working around hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Assist other technicians and team members when required.

Apprenticeship Expectations The apprentice is expected to actively progress toward becoming a licensed Red Seal Automotive Service Technician.

This includes

- Maintaining active apprenticeship registration where applicable.
- Completing required workplace hours.
- Attending and successfully completing required technical training.
- Continuously improving diagnostic and repair skills.
- Accepting coaching and direction from senior technicians and management.
- Taking increasing responsibility as competency develops.
- Developing efficiency and productivity appropriate to the apprentice's experience and training level.

Qualifications
- Registered Automotive Service Technician apprentice or willingness and eligibility to register.
- Valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record.
- Basic automotive knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, hoists, and shop equipment.
- Willingness to learn modern diagnostic equipment and service information systems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of an automotive repair environment.

Tools & Equipment The apprentice is expected to progressively acquire and maintain the personal hand tools appropriate for their apprenticeship level. Anderson Precision Auto Pro will provide access to appropriate shop-owned specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, service information, and larger equipment required to perform assigned work.





Employees are responsible for properly caring for all shop-owned equipment and returning tools and equipment to their designated locations after use.

Safety, workmanship, integrity, and accurate communication are priorities. Repairs should never be rushed at the expense of safety or quality.
