As an Underwriting Assistant, you will support our underwriters in their day-to-day tasks. Working as part of a team, you are responsible for the efficiency and accuracy of insurance policy documents.This is hybrid position with the standard of 3 days in our offices.ResponsibilitiesThis position will:Develop and maintain excellent relationships with underwriters and brokers through verbal and written communicationProcess and issue documents as instructed by underwriters and managers with a high degree of accuracyMeet service standards and turnaround times with respect to issuance of documentsDocument observations made during pre-reviews of files to assist underwritersComplete renewal pre-reviews and may approve renewal referrals within authorityPerform underwriting support functions including bind confirmations and preparing Certificates of InsuranceAmend or update quotes based on instructions of underwritersCoordinate with underwriting areas to research and resolve escalated underwriting issuesSupport managers, underwriters, and coworkers with general administrative tasksMaintain and innovate administrative workflow procedures to increase efficiency and productivityCommunicate internally with other departments via email, Microsoft Teams, and telephoneCommunicate externally with brokers as requiredBuild and maintain electronic, and any applicable hard copy, records following established guidelines and processesQualificationsYou're a good fit if you have:At least 1-2 years of experience with transferable skills in customer service, administration, or insuranceAbility and willingness to obtain a broker license (Level 1) within the first year of employmentOpen to or currently pursuing an insurance designation (CIP or CAIB preferred)Willing to take insurance courses for continued growth and industry knowledgeFamiliarity with basic legal structures in CanadaExcellent typing proficiency and strong communication skillsIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and ExcelTechnical competency with office equipment including printers and scannersBenefitsBy joining HUB International,
