Job Summary

Café de Madrid is looking for an experienced and reliable Breakfast Cook to join our kitchen team in Downtown Oakville. We are a Spanish-inspired café and restaurant focused on quality ingredients, beautiful presentation, and warm hospitality.

The Breakfast Cook will be responsible for launching, preparing and executing our breakfast and brunch menu consistently and efficiently. We’re looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in presentation, and understands the importance of quality, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Duties

- Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch dishes according to Café de Madrid recipes and presentation standards
- Prepare eggs, breakfast proteins, breads, potatoes, sauces, garnishes, and other hot and cold menu items
- Complete daily food preparation and ensure the station is fully stocked before service
- Maintain consistency in portioning, taste, quality, and presentation
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently during busy breakfast and brunch service
- Follow proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and food-safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation throughout the shift
- Monitor product freshness and communicate prep or inventory needs to kitchen management
- Minimize food waste and use ingredients responsibly
- Assist with receiving, prep, cleaning, and other kitchen duties when required




- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service

Qualifications

- Previous experience as a Breakfast Cook, Line Cook, or similar restaurant kitchen position is strongly preferred
- Experience working breakfast or brunch service is an asset
- Strong knowledge of egg preparation and breakfast cooking techniques
- Comfortable working with grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops, and other commercial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
- Able to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail and presentation
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment during busy weekend and brunch services
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a commercial kitchen
- Passion for preparing high-quality food and maintaining Café de Madrid's standards
