Lantz Residential Programs is a not-for-profit organization that operates three small option homes and an ILS Program in the East Hants area, offering varying levels of support. The programs foster individual choice, social inclusion, enhances quality of life, and offers the opportunity to provide skills needed to help individuals live in their communities. Purpose of these Positions:

Support Workers create person-centered programs that offer positive and meaningful experiences, enabling participants to explore and learn within their environment and community.

Support Workers will be responsible for supporting adults living with an intellectual disability in their day to day lives in a home setting. Support will include life skills, personal care, assisting with daily activities, assisting people to participate in various community activities, and household management. Positive behavioral and communications support are essential to this role.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to perform all physical duties of the job

· Able to lift up to 30lbs (13.60kg) repetitively

· Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract, and reliable transportation.

· Criminal record and Vulnerable sector check required

QUALIFICATIONS

· Completion of a community college or university program in human services, disability support, or equivalent.

· Work or Volunteer experience supporting individuals with Physical and/or intellectual disabilities. or you have the passion for this work.

· Completion of the 7 core competency training required by the Department of Opportunities and Social Development or willing to complete training. (Standard First Aid/CPR, Fire and Life safety, Medication Awareness, Crisis intervention, Positive principles and practices of behavior support, Health and Personal care, and Individualized planning.

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Ability to work independently or as part of a team under the direction of the Supervisor, Executive Director, or Designate
