OverviewThe District of Saanich is seeking Fleet Equipment Technicians who will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and daily running of all Public Works small tools and equipment. They will also assist Fleet Operations Centre as required.ResponsibilitiesMaintain the equipment tool crib areas, track and purchase inventory of repair/replacement parts.Schedule and perform major overhauls; perform minor repairs and welding services.Support the Fleet Operations Centre as needed.RequirementsGrade 12 or equivalent; one year of post-secondary education related to equipment and maintenance; Two years of experience performing vehicle or equipment service and minor maintenance tasks in a shop environment; Knowledge of servicing and maintaining equipment; knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, WHMIS,



and the Motor Vehicle Act; Valid Class 5 BC Driver's licence; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.AssetsValid Class 3 BC Driver's licence with air brake endorsement and/or heavy trailer endorsement; Fork lift certification; Experience in Fleet/Public Works shop; welding experience or training.ScheduleThe successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm or 7:30am-4:00pm (40 hours per week).Compensation and BenefitsThis is a CUPÉ Local 2011 position with a wage of $38.84 per hour (2024 rate) plus an excellent perks package.
