As a Clinical Supervisor - Nursing Program, you will help bridge classroom learning and clinical practice. Working directly with students and health-care partners, you will create meaningful learning experiences, model professional nursing practice, and apply critical thinking and sound judgment to support student success, achievement of course learning outcomes, and secure client care.

Responsibilities

- Create appropriate, student-centred clinical learning experiences that connect course expectations with day-to-day practice.
- Select suitable clients and organize student assignments to support learning outcomes
- Review and clarify clinical practice expectations, professional standards, policies and guidelines
- Build respectful, collaborative relationships with students, clients and families, clinical agency staff, medical staff, faculty and other Clinical Supervisors.
- Supervise and monitor the care students provide, offering timely coaching, feedback and direction.
- Use sound clinical judgment and step in when a client’s condition changes; a situation exceeds a student’s current level of preparation, or safety may be at risk.
- Adapt clinical assignments and plans in response to changing client needs, schedules, equipment issues, and other unanticipated events.
- Assess student performance using established course learning outcomes, evaluation tools and forms prepared by the course professor.
- Document clear observations about student performance, share feedback directly with students, and provide clarification and coaching as needed.
- Seek input from clinical agency nursing staff when incidents or performance concerns arise,



and partner with the Clinical Coordinator or Professor to determine whether learning outcomes have been met.

What You Bring to Seneca

- A completed four (4)-year degree in Nursing or a two-year (2) diploma in Nursing is required.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- At least two years of recent practical nursing experience, including two years in an acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, along with Intermediate (Standard) First Aid required.
- The ability to meet clinical placement requirements, including Worker Health and Safety Awareness and WHMIS certification required
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to remain calm, organized, and responsive in physically and intellectually demanding environments.
- A coaching mindset and clear, respectful communication skills that help students learn while maintaining client safety and professional standards.
- The ability to work with tact and diplomacy across clinical agencies, students, faculty, staff, clients and families.
- Effective time management, organization, problem-solving and multitasking skills, including the ability to adjust priorities under pressure.
- Comfort using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, email, online calendars and learning-management systems such as Blackboard.

Condition of employment: The successful candidate will be required to provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to Seneca Polytechnic and meet all occupational health, safety, immunization and clinical placement requirements associated with the role, assignment and clinical placement site(s). As a condition of employment, all required documentation must be provided before the start date and remain valid for the duration of the assignment.
