The Opportunity The Cloud Native Developer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining CENGN’s cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines, with particular focus on supporting our Kubernetes-based platform with Kafka at its core. This role works closely with the development, operations, and security teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-native applications and contributes to the betterment of the team through sound judgment, code review input, and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure and Automation

- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, AWX, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies
- Automate tasks to integrate systems using APIs and other technologies
- Proficiency in command-line tools, package management, and Linux networking

CI/CD & Deployment

- Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and monitoring of applications and infrastructure

Containerization & Orchestration

- Implement and maintain containerization solutions using Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
- Deploy and manage workloads using Helm

Data & Messaging

- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, evolution, and ongoing database maintenance
- Work with Kafka as the central messaging backbone of the Kubernetes platform; general message bus/queue concepts also apply to adjacent systems

Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response

- Implement, develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring, logging,



and tracing solutions to provide visibility into cloud infrastructure and applications
- Respond to and troubleshoot incidents by analyzing logs, traces, and metrics; conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability in a cloud-native environment by observing monitoring tools like, Prometheus, Loki and Grafana

Security & Compliance

- Implement best practices for security, compliance, and disaster recovery in a cloud-native environment.
- Implement and manage secure storage for secrets using tools like HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or Azure Key Vault.

Collaboration & Documentation

- Collaborates with other technology and operations team members to align priorities and deliver shared objectives.
- Communicates progress, risks, and blockers clearly to relevant stakeholders, escalating issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in code/PR reviews and support teammates on day-to-day issues
- Mentors Co-ops by sharing technical knowledge, providing practical guidance, and encouraging sound engineering practices.
- Maintains clear, up-to-date documentation for systems, processes, and decisions to support continuity and knowledge transfer across the team.

Key Competencies:

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with proven experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and SUSE, familiarity with monitoring and logging tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki, and solid IP networking knowledge, with practical understanding of BGP.
- Strong proficiency in scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, Go) and command-line tools, package management, and Linux networking; comfortable navigating multi-language codebases.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, PROXMOX, and Kubernetes (Vanilla and/or RKE2 a plus), plus CI/ CD and Gitops tools such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, or CircleCI.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, network security) and understanding of Agile/DevOps methodologies across the software development lifecycle.
- Experience managing production workloads with real users/clients, understanding the added care required when systems are client- or user-facing
- Cutting-edge, solution-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills in distributed systems, excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to staying current on industry trends (including emerging areas like 5G).

Languages:

- English oral, reading, and writing
- French oral, reading, and writing would be considered an asset
