Communications Advisor (Safety Information and Insights Strategist Team Lead)

What you'll do

Reporting to the Manager, Safety Information and Learning, the Safety Information and Insights Strategist leads the Safety

Systems and Assurance content strategy and turns complex safety performance, assurance, incident and organizational learning information into clear, evidence-based communications. The role strengthens understanding, supports leadership decisions, advances risk reduction and continuous improvement, and ensures safety messaging is consistent across priority channels.

- Lead and coach two team members who deliver safety content across priority channels.
- Develop and execute Safety Systems & Assurance communication and content strategy, including audience plans, web

user experience, key messages, campaigns, intranet content, learning products.
- Translate technical, operational, performance, assurance and investigation information into concise, accessible content for

employees, contractors, leaders and health and safety committees.
- Support executive and governance materials, including safety briefings,



Board reports and associated reference materials,

annual reports and enterprise performance narratives.
- Oversee Safety Systems & Assurance communication channels, including SafeHub, Hydroweb, HydroShare and the

Monthly Safety Package, and use analytics and feedback to improve effectiveness.
- Establish editorial priorities, web user experiences, messaging principles, accessibility requirements and quality standards

that protect accuracy and subject matter integrity.
- Partner with Safety program leads, Technical Safety, Safety Performance and Analytics, Incident Management, Employee

Communications, operational leaders and the Office of the Senior Vice-President, Safety, to align content, evidence and delivery.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives and provide evidence-based recommendations on safety priorities, governance

and improvement opportunities.
- Embed Human and Organizational Performance principles into safety communications, learning products and leadership

messaging.

What you bring

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, safety management, engineering, organizational development, public

administration, analytics, communications or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Typically, 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in safety management, strategic planning, organizational

learning, performance analysis, risk management, operational improvement, program evaluation, governance reporting or organizational effectiveness.
- Demonstrated experience developing strategic recommendations and executive-level briefs from complex qualitative and

quantitative information.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with enterprise-wide implications and influencing stakeholders





without direct authority.
- Advanced analytical, critical-thinking, synthesis, facilitation and consultation skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including content strategy, narrative development, web user

experience, editorial planning and audience analysis.
- Ability to translate technical safety, risk, assurance, investigation and performance information into accurate, accessible

and actionable communications.
- Strong knowledge of organizational learning, Human and Organizational Performance, risk management, safety

performance measurement and communication effectiveness.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, reconcile competing perspectives and manage priorities in a complex operational

- Please note a condition of employment for this role is to maintain your Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.
- The position may involve occasional travel across BC.
- This is a hybrid position under our flexible work model, requiring a combination of remote and in-office work. The current

expectation is a minimum of two days per week in the office, increasing to three days per week beginning in January 2027. Location : Burnaby, British Columbia, V3N 4X8.
