Course Title: Human Geography in Secondary School (EDUC 40E3 WI01)
Contract Term: December 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027
Course Schedule: Winter Term: Mondays 1:00pm - 4:20pm

Stipend Amount: The current Per Course stipend for this appointment is specified in Appendices H and I of the 17th Collective Agreement.
Course Description: Using relevant documents and current research, topics in teaching human geography will include cultural patterns and processes, population geography, urban geography, political geography, agricultural and rural land use and industrialization and economic development. A variety of teaching strategies will be aimed at infusing geography skills and pedagogy into social studies teaching and learning.
Qualifications: M.Ed. or higher qualification in a relevant area. A record of academic expertise in relevant theories related to the teaching of human geography. Current and relevant experience with contemporary approaches to teaching human geography in schools is required.
Recent experience as a school-based educator is preferred. Recent experience designing, facilitating, and assessing a teacher education course at a university level is preferred. Successful recent experience working independently and as part of a team is essential.
The B.Ed. is a provincially accredited program. Applicants will therefore be expected to teach to the accreditation standards for this course.
