Under the direction of the Manager Continuing Care Centre, and in keeping with the philosophy of client-centered care while demonstrating respect for the traditional and individual values of residents and the community being served, the Continuing Care Worker(s) will assist residents with activities of daily living including eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, mobilization and recreation.

The Continuing Care

Worker(s) provides interpreter and translator services to facilitate dialogue between residents and professional staff and also performs delegated nursing procedures and therapeutic regimes to enable the resident to have an optimal quality of life.

The Continuing Care Worker(s) provides care of the residents identified on the resident’s care plan. These positions will enable residents requiring continuing care to access these services within Nunavut.

These positions require shift work, including weekends and statutory holidays, as the facility operates on a 24/7 basis year-round.

The incumbent(s) should have good communication skills both verbal and written as well as basic knowledge of medical terminology and diseases/conditions affecting this resident population. Knowledge of the required needs and provision care for adults and elders, with physical, mental and/or cognitive challenges should also be known.

The incumbent(s) should have current CPR and First Aid Certification and have Completed Grade 8. However, preference will be given to graduates from a Continuing Care Worker program.





This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural workplace are also considered assets.
