Job Summary
We are seeking passionate and energetic Cooks to join our newly forming culinary team!
The Cooks prepare and cook meals for Trinity Manor at Stonebridge in accordance with approved menus, standardized recipes, production requirements and food-safety standards. The Cooks contributes to a positive resident dining experience by producing appealing, consistent food, meeting meal-service timelines and maintaining a clean, safe and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, portion and present menu items according to standardized recipes, production plans and established quality standards.
- Complete assigned preparation, including washing, cutting, mixing, seasoning, baking and other food-production tasks.
- Ensure food is ready for service at the required time and communicate promptly when production or service concerns arise.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, temperature, holding and presentation throughout production and service.
- Prepare special diets, texture-modified foods and documented resident meal requirements according to established procedures and direction.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, allergen, personal-hygiene and workplace-safety procedures at all times.
- Complete required temperature, production, cooling, reheating and other food-safety records accurately.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, utensils, storage areas and shared kitchen spaces.
- Store, label,
date and rotate food correctly and help maintain appropriate inventory and par levels.
- Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries and report product quality, quantity or storage concerns.
- Use ingredients responsibly, follow portion standards and support waste-reduction practices.
- Work cooperatively with culinary and dining-service employees to support smooth meal service.
- Assist with special functions, catering and other culinary activities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Skilled cooking experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
- Culinary education or trade training is an asset; Journeyperson/Red Seal Cook certification is an asset.
- Experience in seniors living, healthcare, institutional dining, hospitality or high-volume food service is an asset.
- Knowledge of commercial food preparation, safe food handling, sanitation and temperature-control practices.
- Recognized food-safety certification appropriate to the role, or willingness and ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.
- Ability to follow recipes and production instructions, organize work, meet service deadlines and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with coworkers, residents and supervisors.
- Satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector screening is required.
