This role sets financial strategy, owns forecasting and risk management, and holds the banking, lending, and audit relationships that keep the business capitalized and compliant as it scales.The Controller and General Accountant own day-to-day accounting execution and month-end close, while the Director of Finance provides oversight, verifies accuracy, identifies and resolves errors, and focuses on strategy, forecasting, and risk. This is a hands‐on leadership role for someone who can operate at both the strategic and detailed level in a fast‐growing, multi‐entity environment.RequirementsKey Responsibilities:Strategic Financial LeadershipSet and own the company's financial strategy across Canadian and U.S. entitiesPartner with the Managing Director and owners on major financial decisionsTranslate business goals into financial plans, targets, and reportingAct as the primary financial advisor to leadershipForecasting, Budgeting & AnalysisOwn the annual budget and rolling forecast models and assumptionsDeliver timely, accurate financial reporting and variance analysis to leadershipLead margin, cash flow, and profitability analysis to support growth decisionsSupport pricing, promotion, and operational initiatives with financial modelingBanking,



Financing & Lender RelationshipsOwn all banking relationships and signing authorityLead financing initiatives and strategic finance projectsManage lender and investor relationships and reporting requirementsEvaluate financing options to support growth and working capital needsEnsure compliance with Canadian and U.S. accounting standards and regulatory requirementsOwn audit relationships and lead external audits and reviewsIdentify compliance risks proactively, before they become issuesDirectly manage our Controller.Set priorities, review first-level work, and provide second-level sign-off where neededCoach and develop the finance team as the business scalesEnsure month-end close, AP/AR, payroll, and commissions run smoothly with minimal escalation to this roleMulti-Entity OversightOversee finance operations across Canadian and U.S. entitiesEnsure consistent policies, controls, and reporting standards across bothSupport Intercompany transactions and cross-border compliance requirementsOwn tax strategy and compliance across the company's Canadian and U.S. entitiesOversee corporate income tax, GST/HST, U.S. sales and use tax, and other applicable federal, provincial, state, and local obligationsEnsure all tax filings, installments, remittances, and regulatory deadlines are completed accurately and on timeMonitor U.S. state requirements and assess tax implications as the company expands into new jurisdictionsOversee the tax treatment of Intercompany and cross-border transactions, including appropriate documentation and transfer‐pricing considerationsPartner with external tax advisors to manage complex matters, audits, inquiries, and evolving regulatory requirementsIdentify available tax credits, incentives, and planning opportunities while maintaining appropriate compliance and controlsProactively identify and communicate tax risks, exposures,
