Are you an experienced privacy and access professional who thrives on building programs, navigating complex legislation, and providing trusted advice to leaders? We are seeking a Coordinator, Access and Privacy to lead and coordinate our access and privacy functions while serving in the critical role of Privacy Officer, as well as the role of access to information coordinator for Strathcona County.This is an exciting prospect to play a key role in strengthening transparency, protecting personal information, and advancing a growing Privacy Management Program.Key Responsibilities:Serve as the County's designated Privacy OfficerAdminister and continuously improve the County's Privacy Management ProgramDevelop and enhance privacy frameworks, policies, procedures, tools, and training materialsEstablish governance standards and controls to ensure consistent privacy practicesMonitor legislative developments and recommend program improvementsBuild strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAct as the primary point of contact for privacy-related mattersLead privacy initiatives and quality assurance activities to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and standardsAdvise senior leadership and staff on privacy requirements, risks, and best practicesCoordinate Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)Investigate privacy breaches, complaints, and incidentsRecommend corrective actions and mitigation strategiesDevelop practical guidance and educational resources for employeesCoordinate and process access to information requests from intake to completionEnsure compliance with legislated timelines and requirementsConduct records reviews and disclosure assessmentsRespond to third-party consultations and related inquiriesProvide advice on access legislation and disclosure decisionsDevelop tools and training to support consistent access to information processesAssess and audit access and privacy activitiesPrepare reports and recommendations for senior leadershipMonitor trends, legislative changes, and emerging issuesParticipate in cross-functional committees and initiativesSupport information governance, transparency, and compliance objectivesQualifications and Skills:A post-secondary degree in a related field and at least 7 years of related experience, preferably within a government environment or a diploma in a related field and at least 9 years of related experience, preferably within a government environmentCompletion of a privacy and access certificate program or designationExtensive knowledge of Alberta's Access to Information Act and Protection of Privacy ActStrong understanding of municipal governance and related legislation, including the Municipal Government ActExperience managing access to information requests and privacy compliance programsExpertise in privacy impact assessments, privacy breach management, and legislative interpretationExcellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skillsStrong project management and organizational abilitiesExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to explain complex legislative requirements to diverse audiencesHigh levels of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential informationStrong Microsoft Office skills and proficiency with document redaction tools,
