Metalworks Institute is the educational branch of Metalworks, we are a sister company to the world-famous Metalworks Studios (recording studio) and Metalworks Production Group (live event production) and Charity SoundsUnite Canada (music education & mental wellness). Metalworks has been a pillar of the Canadian music scene for almost 50 years.
Metalworks is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Aid Administrator to join our dynamic team. This role is permanent/full-time and is based on-site in Mississauga.
About the roleWe’re looking for a Credit Manager who can help prospective students find a realistic way to finance their education and confidently take the next step toward enrolment. You’ll lead complex tuition and funding conversations, work closely with Admissions and the Financial Aid Advisor, and take responsibility for payment processing and overdue student accounts.This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who combines sound financial judgment with solid communication and follow-through. You’ll be measured in part on successful enrolments, while ensuring that every financing option and payment commitment is explained accurately and responsibly.Responsibilities
- Meet with prospective students and families to understand financial barriers to enrolment and identify workable funding and payment options.
- Explain tuition, deposits, payment schedules, OSAP and other available funding pathways clearly, without making commitments about funding eligibility or approval.
- Work with Admissions to move prospective students from a financing discussion to a completed enrolment and confirmed payment arrangement.
- Guide the Financial Aid Advisor on complex files, priorities and follow-up, while ensuring OSAP documentation and processing requirements are handled accurately.
- Prepare and administer approved payment plans, process payments, issue receipts and maintain accurate account records.
- Monitor outstanding balances, contact students about overdue payments and resolve account issues professionally and promptly.
- Escalate accounts requiring exceptions, further intervention or external collection in accordance with Institute policy.
- Coordinate with Admissions, Student Services and Accounting to keep enrolment, funding and account information aligned.
- Report on financing conversations, enrolment outcomes, payment commitments, receivables and overdue accounts.
- Recommend improvements to payment processes and student-facing communications.
Qualifications
- Experience in credit management,
student financing, accounts receivable, financial services, or a related role involving complex payment conversations.
- Demonstrated ability to help customers or clients overcome financial obstacles and reach a decision.
- Experience managing overdue accounts with professionalism, persistence and discretion.
- Strong numerical skills and confidence preparing payment schedules, reconciling transactions and reviewing account histories.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain sensitive financial matters clearly and empathetically.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential financial information and requests for exceptions.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing many active files and follow-ups at once.
- Experience supervising or guiding another team member is an asset.
- Experience with OSAP, post-secondary education or career colleges is an asset.
Compensation This position includes a base and a performance-based incentive plan tied to successful enrolments and completed payment arrangements. The incentive plan and eligibility criteria will be explained during the hiring process.
