Manufacturing is looking for a recent engineering graduate to take ownership of the design and evolution of our product line, from the structural design of weighbridges to the electrical and electronic systems that make them work. You will see your designs fabricated on our shop floor within weeks, installed at customer sites across North America, and improved through direct feedback from the service team. As the company grows, this role grows with it: the successful candidate will become our lead product designer and a key voice in how we build, sell, and support our scales. P O S I T I O N S U M M A R Y

Reporting to the CEO, the Design Engineer will own the mechanical, electrical, and electronic design of ASM’s weighing products and drive their continuous improvement. Alongside product design, the role supports the Plant Coordinator with day-to-day production activities and works with the Service team to prepare and calibrate bench scales. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position for an engineer who wants to design, build, and see the results.

K E Y R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S

- Own the design and evolution of ASM’s product line, including truck, rail, portable, and bench scales
- Design weighbridge structures (steel decks, modules, foundations interfaces) and produce fabrication-ready drawings, BOMs, and specifications




- Design and specify the electrical and electronic components of our weigh systems: load cells, junction boxes, indicators, wiring, and integration with customer systems
- Maintain and improve engineering documentation, drawing standards, and product configurations in our ERP system
- Apply engineering analysis (structural loading, deflection, tolerance, electrical sizing) to validate designs and reduce cost, weight, and build time
- Support the Plant Coordinator with day-to-day production planning, work orders, material requirements, and shop-floor technical questions
- Work with the Service team to prepare, assemble, configure, and calibrate bench scales prior to shipment
- Investigate field and production issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective design changes
- Coordinate with suppliers on components, materials, and outsourced fabrication
- Support Sales with technical input on quotes, custom requirements, and customer drawings
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across engineering, production, and service

R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) and 2D drafting
- Solid understanding of structural design principles, materials, and fabrication methods (welding, machining, sheet metal)




- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems: circuits, sensors, wiring, and control components
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly with shop-floor, service, and sales colleagues and to translate customer needs into technical requirements
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable owning projects end-to-end in a small, fast-moving company
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

P R E F E R R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
- Co-op, internship, or capstone experience in manufacturing, heavy fabrication, or industrial equipment
- Exposure to load cells, weighing instrumentation, PLCs, or data acquisition
- Familiarity with FEA tools and structural analysis
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems and bills of material
- Hands-on skills and comfort working in a shop environment

Schedule Monday – Friday, day shift

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
