SUMMARY An integral stakeholder in the project life cycle, the Designer is part of a cross-functional team responsible for the complete engineered design, procurement, and delivery of a project from cradle to grave. Imitating a functional architectural studio, the team leads the development of shop drawings, scheduling, purchasing, and coordination with operational staff, to provide an excellent level of customer service along with a high-quality unitized curtain wall or other architectural product to our clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Produce accurate all-encompassing 2D shop drawings per company standards, project specification within the allotted project schedule. Coordinate with engineering to meet job specific requirements.
- Complete comprehensive review of proposals, takeoffs, specifications, trade drawings, and architectural/structural drawings.
- Following the approval of shop drawings, prepare material takeoffs to facilitate purchase of materials required.
- Coordinate with third party suppliers and internal departments on the purchase, fabrication and delivery of all raw materials and information required.
- Develop effective design solutions while working closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to meet architectural intent and design performance.
- Prepare scope of work document, listing all materials required within a set of prepared shop drawings that give clear delineation of responsibility and is utilized in 3D modelling and manufacturing.
- Generate thorough RFI with clear documentation and properly phrased questions for submission to the client and/or architect.
- Control project documentation throughout the project life cycle. Upload, organize, and maintain versioning on all contract documents received from clients and internally produced documents.
- Generate all required fabrication documents per company best practices.




- Work closely with VDC department for the preparation of 3D models in accordance with approved shop drawings for use in procurement of key materials and manufacturing of final product.
- On-going maintenance of the change order log, conducting thorough reviews of all contract documents to keep a record of all changes related to scope, pricing, and schedule.
- Conduct research on products, manufacturer systems, fabrication, and installation instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS College diploma or University degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or in a related field. One to three years experience in a similar role. Intermediate level computer skills with working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working conditions include long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. This position may require occasional standing or walking.
