Grande Prairie is a excellent place to live, work, and play.Position ResponsibilitiesPerforms a variety of duties required for the daily operation and delivery of events at Montrose Cultural Centre (MCC), including, but not limited to, general maintenance, cleaning and repair duties, set-up/take down of tables, chairs, stage risers, pipe and drape and audio-visual systems; and driving to acquire materials and supplies, and performing safety-related tasks. Shift work and shift rotations are required in this role.Perform a variety of custodial work including cleaning and garbage pick-upSet-up/take down of tables, chairs, stage risers, pipe and drape and audio-visual systemPerform minor maintenance such as tightening bolts, oiling hinges, gluing surfaces, table repairsPerform customer service duties such as answering questions and providing informationLiaise and act as point of contact with other City of Grande Prairie Departments, various contractors and service providersProvide ongoing guest and client service to all users of a multi-purpose facility, including duties required for delivery of multiple events such as people, resources and equipment required for quick turnaround on events.Operate and maintain equipment required for performance of duties such as floor cleaners, ride‐on tractors, aerial lift, sweepers, pressure washers,
snow blowersAct as a technical liaison and ensure requirements are met for events and clients of MCC such as arranging pick‐ups/deliveries and receiving deliveries; adjusting lighting controls, facility preparation, event change‐outs, take‐downs, opening hall at completion of eventsWork with MCC tenants regarding building maintenance requests (Library, Kiosk, Art Gallery)Schedule and ensure, if required, supervision is available for contractor workMonitor building safety and securityConduct OH&S building inspections, generate reports, designate tasks to others on supervisor's direction and follow up on completion of tasksSnow shoveling, clearing and saltingPressure washing concourse and other areas; vandalism removalSchedule and oversee Fire DrillsSchedule and facilitate annual fire inspectionUpdate and maintain the health and safety Red BinderQualificationsHigh School graduation or equivalentMinimum two years' experience and upkeep of a major multi‐purpose facility utilized by diverse patron groupsMinimum two years' experience with event set‐ups/take‐downsInitiative and time management skills required to organize your own workSelf‐starting attitude with an exceptional service approachProven ability to work as part of a teamAbility to communicate tactfully and concisely, verbally and in writingOrganized and able to monitor and ensure building security and customer safetyPerforms repeated heavy physical demands including but not limited to long periods of standing, lifting and shifting, and climbing stairsBasic computer skills and knowledgeCertification in First Aid and WHMISExperience and ability to deal effectively with vulnerable and street‐engaged populations.Working knowledge and experience with Health and Safety procedures; and the ability to develop and update Safe Work ProceduresWorking knowledge and experience performing and leading Health and Safety building inspectionsAbility to work shift workAbility to operate various pieces of equipment used in cleaning an assetAbility to work at heights an assetBuilding Maintenance Course as an assetVulnerable Sector CheckValid Class 5 Driver's LicenseHoursThe standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.CompensationStarting salary $33.84 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.BenefitsComprehensive benefits package.
