relevant and meaningful lessons in English language and Canadian culture to adult newcomers to Canada based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and needs of the studentsMaintain records of previous lessons, researching and utilizing a variety of teaching resourcesEnsure activities are developing the students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skillsPerform assessments of students' progress on a regular basis (using student portfolios); introduce new activities and materials to enhance student learningAssess individual student needs; address student problems as necessary; monitor classroom activities and dynamicsMaintain accurate student records of attendance and portfoliosMaintain up‐to‐date instructor binder and submit attendance sheets dailySubmit lesson reports monthlyAttend quarterly Professional Development daysThe LINC instructors are part of the YMCA team and report to the LINC SupervisorWhat qualifications are we looking for?Completed Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language, Languages, or EducationTESL/TESOL/ESL Certificate is an assetAwareness of the PBLA system of assessment, PBLA Certification is an assetTeaching experience required; PBLA teaching experience is an assetWillingness and commitment to certify PBLA through online trainingAwareness of and empathy for issues facing new CanadiansCurrent knowledge of LINC/ESL and resourcesSuperior communication and leadership skillsThe ability to work independently and as part of a teamCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider.
