Our client is a leading food import and distribution company that is looking to bring onboard a Director, Food Safety & Supplier Assurance. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing food safety, supplier quality, regulatory compliance, and food defense programs across a global supplier network while supporting business growth, customer satisfaction, and supply chain continuity.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and develop the Food Safety & Supplier Assurance team, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee supplier approval, qualification, auditing, and performance management programs.
- Ensure compliance with CFIA, SFCR, FDA, FSMA, and FSVP requirements.
- Lead food safety investigations, recalls, corrective actions, and supplier non-conformance resolution.
- Evaluate supplier, product, and supply chain risks and provide recommendations to support business decisions.
- Partner with Procurement, Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership to manage food safety and regulatory risks.
- Support customer, regulatory, certification, and internal audits while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop KPIs, reporting tools, and quality systems that improve visibility, compliance, and supplier performance.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:





- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Food Safety, Supplier Quality, Regulatory Compliance, or related functions.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, Preventive Controls, Traceability, Supplier Assurance, Recall Management, and CAPA programs.
- Expertise in CFIA/SFCR, FDA, FSMA, and FSVP regulations.
- Experience working within food importing, ingredient sourcing, food distribution, trading, or supply chain quality environments.
- Certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner, BRCGS, or ASQ are considered assets.
