Role Description The Sous Chef is a seasonal position, on-site role based in Big White, BC. This role supports the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparing menu items, overseeing food production, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Responsibilities include assisting with menu execution, monitoring food quality and presentation, organizing prep work, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients. The Sous Chef helps coordinate kitchen staff, contributes to efficient service during peak hours, and follows food safety and hygiene standards.



This role also involves collaborating on new recipes, managing inventory levels, and supporting consistent, high-quality culinary output.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally in a Sous Chef or senior line cook position.
- Robust knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating standards.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and workplace health regulations.
- Ability to lead by example, support kitchen staff, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, especially during high-volume service.
- Flexibility to work varied part-time shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as required in kitchen operations.
- Culinary training, apprenticeship, or certification is an asset but not mandatory.
