Educational Consultant, Inhabit Education

About Us:

Inuit-owned company focused on Inuktut language revitalization and culturally-supportive education. We respond to gaps in language support from early childhood to post-secondary and beyond. We work with partners to strengthen Inuktut and cultural knowledge through education, film and television, and book publishing. We are based out of Iqaluit, Nunavut with an office in Toronto.

About You:

You are a skilled educational thinker who can adapt and apply what you know about language acquisition and literacy skill development to an Indigenous language education context. You are a strong writer, intuitive problem solver, and highly organized. You have just as much passion as you do skill.

You show up every day excited to contribute to meaningful projects. You collaborate well with a diverse group of specialists including Inuktitut linguists, researchers, and more. We’re looking for someone who says “yes” to new learning opportunities, who is driven to deliver high-quality work, and who can help transform projects from early ideas to impactful resources.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and collaborate in the planning, development, and delivery of teacher support materials such as lesson plans, educator guides, professional development, and more.
- Apply a strong understanding of classroom realities, grade-level considerations,



and pedagogical best-practices to the development of educational materials.
- Align materials with the new made-in-Nunavut Curriculum Learning Outcomes.
- Collaborate with teachers, language experts, Elders, and others.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Learn new knowledge and skills for new projects with excitement.
- Receive and implement feedback.

Qualifications

- Experience working as a classroom teacher is an asset.
- Experience as an educational researcher is an asset.
- Experience and/or interest working in a Northern or Indigenous context is an asset.
- Experience with lesson planning, curriculum development, and pedagogy is an asset
- Robust writing skills are required.
- Strong project management skills are required.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel is an asset.
- Willingness to travel (or relocate) North is an asset.
